We got another rat...yeah...another one.

But Maggot...my four year old rat, my first rat, my best friend...she's being put to sleep on Saturday. Her back legs stopped working, and though she was happy and healthy regardless, I found a huge tumor on her yesterday...I don't want her to go through the stress of an op...not at her age.

So I made the most mature decision I felt I could make given the circumstances. It's better this way, for her, for me...so for the next few days she's being spoilt rotten with all manner of sugary, bad-for-you foods and lots of cuddles and love. Then I'm going to hold her when she leaves and burry her with her sister, Emilie, who she was very close to.
I'm devastated, but not as much as I thought I would be. I love her dearly, and I don't ever want her to suffer. She's lived the greatest, most spoilt, most cuddled life of any rat, and at four years old she's lived to a very, very good age, too. I know there is nothing she could have wanted for, and she was and still is very happy, chittering away. I want to do the kind thing, I couldn't let her linger on in pain, because gradually that tumor is going to get sore and it'll take it's toll on her. I won't let it get that far. She's going to leave this world warm, full and loved in her mummy's arms, knowing she's loved.

So this new rat is sort of...a distraction from that. Brad got her for me, to make me feel better. She's very pretty, with some of the most beautiful markings I've ever seen on a rat. We're currently struggling with a name for her though, so...here's a list of name ideas - tell me what you think is best!
1. Inara (From Firefly, because we have a rat named River)
2. Idris (From Doctor Who, Gaiman's episde 'The Doctor's wife' - the human form of the Tardis)
3. Ygritte (From ASOIAF..."You know nothing, Jon Snow.")
4. Eowyn (If you don't know what this is from we can't be friends...but here's a clue, "I am no man!")
5. Brienne (ASOIAF again...for the sheer irony that this rat is beautiful and Brienne...isn't....)

Any other names you have to suggest are welcome! I'll take suggestions from the following fandoms:

Firefly.
Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire.
Harry Potter.
Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit.
Anything like that.
